Paddle Tales is a speaker series where paddlers share their experience on a variety of paddling topics!

Ann Ogg will be speaking about her recent trip down the length of the Mississippi River.

My trip began May 30, 2020, at the headwaters of the Mississippi River at Itasca State Park in Minnesota. It concluded September 10 at the Gulf of Mexico via the South Pass of the birdsfoot delta, touching 10 states along the way. I paddled with friends all through Minnesota, and soloed in my kayak from just north of the MN/IA border to the Gulf. My goals were 1) adventure and simplicity and 2)seeing new places and meeting new faces. I am still awed by all the people who were an integral part of my journey…the cream-of-the-crop-decades-long paddling friends throughout MN, the River Angels I had long read about and finally got to meet, the unplanned River Angels who were dropped into my path like bursts of sunshine, and the overwhelming sweet surprises of friends and family who went WAY out of their way to find me.
