Introduction to Canoeing Rivers

This class is designed for those who are comfortably skilled at paddling their canoes on still water but want to advance their skills to paddle more comfortably on rivers up to Class II.  We will cover the basics of river safety, how to read rivers and paddling techniques used in current.

Students must have pfds, helmets and canoes with airbags or other suitable floation for river use. Canoes should have 3+ inches of rocker and have enough bow and stern volume and flare to be able to shed small to moderate sized waves. A wetsuit or drysuit is not required, as the water is reasonably warm by July. We just require wool or polypropylene clothing that helps you stay warm if you get wet.
Students should be available for both Saturday and Sunday sessions to be able to be able to get value out of the class.
